Meet Scorpion

A few details help explain this feature. Moves build down in the same suit rather than allowing cross-suit destinations. The tableau has seven columns. Four complete King-to-Ace runs clear the game. Scorpion on jdragon1.com uses one 52-card deck with four suits.

Read the opening cards

Here are the details for this mode. Three cards remain in the stock. The first three cards in each of the first four columns are face down. All cards in the last three columns are face up. Each opening column contains seven cards for a total of 49 tableau cards.

Check rank and suit together

Here are the details for this mode. A seven of hearts cannot land on an eight of spades. A moved group's leading card must land on a card exactly one rank higher in the same suit. A King cannot land on another card because no higher rank exists. A seven of hearts can land on an exposed eight of hearts.

Move exposed groups

The following details apply here. The leading selected card still has to meet the destination rule. The selected cards do not need to descend in rank to travel together. The selected cards do not need to share a suit to travel together. Any face-up card can be selected together with every card beneath it.

Only Kings fill empty space

Keep these points in mind. An empty column accepts a King or a group led by a King. A group led by a lower rank cannot enter an empty column. Cards beneath a moved King do not need to be in sequence. An empty column is therefore less flexible than an empty column in ordinary Spider.

Reveal the hidden cards

Keep these points in mind. Undo restores the earlier hidden-card arrangement when the move is reversed. Removing all face-up cards above a hidden card turns that hidden card face up. The next hidden card is revealed automatically. An exposed card can carry the cards beneath it when its own destination is legal.

Use the stock once

Here are the details for this mode. There are no further stock cards after the three-card deal. The stock contains one final deal of three cards. Dealing places a face-up card on each of the first three columns. This Scorpion version permits its stock deal when columns are empty.

Complete a suit

Here are the details for this mode. The game removes a qualifying run automatically from the bottom of a column. A completed run must descend from King to Ace in one suit. Moving an unordered group does not make that group a completed sequence. All thirteen cards in a collected run must be face up.

Practice Scorpion decisions

The following details apply here. A move can carry unwanted cards along with a useful leading card. Hint lists legal choices without promising a winning continuation. Replay and Undo let you explore another approach to the same layout. Checking the whole moved group helps you anticipate what will become blocked.

Save a Scorpion session

A few details help explain this feature. My Statistics records Scorpion starts and wins separately from other variants. Scorpion keeps a separate saved position when game saving is enabled. Random Scorpion shuffles are not advertised as guaranteed winnable. Privacy & Cookie Settings lets you remove local saved games and results.
